ENSEMBLE ARTS PHILLY PRESENTS A NIGHT OF CLASSIC HITS WITH LEGENDARY DUO, HERB ALPERT & LANI HALL, IN CELEBRATION OF THEIR ILLUSTRIOUS MUSICAL CAREERS, MAY 18, 2024

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (April 10, 2024) – Ensemble Arts Philly, the new presenting brand of the Kimmel Cultural Campus and The Philadelphia Orchestra, welcomes legendary trumpeter Herb Albert and Grammy® -winning vocalist Lani Hall to the Perelman Theater on May 18, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. A trip down memory lane, this performance will include projections of photos and stories from their careers, which have included some of the biggest hits of the 1960s and beyond.

Herb Alpert, renowned as a multi-talented musician, record producer, and industry executive, is one of the most influential artists in pop music history. Alpert's remarkable career includes five #1 hits, eight Grammy Awards, fourteen Platinum albums, and over 72 million records sold worldwide. Lani Hall, acclaimed vocalist, began her singing career in the mid-1960s, as the lead singer of Sergio Mendes' breakthrough group, Brasil 66. Hall has also a successful solo career, with numerous hit songs to her credit.

“Ensemble Arts Philly brings world-class talent to Philadelphia to inspire and captivate audiences,” said Frances Egler, Vice President of Theatrical Programming and Presentations. “We are thrilled to present legendary Herb Alpert and Lani Hall, who together have carved out an enviable niche in the world of music with their distinctive blend of jazz, bossa nova, and pop.”

Alpert is celebrating his 60th year since recording his first hit song, "The Lonely Bull," in 1962. Hall is celebrating a great career that includes hitmaking ensembles and singular solo flights. Together with their incredible band they perform an eclectic mix of American standards, Brazilian jazz, some Beatles, some classic Tijuana Brass, and Brazil ’66 songs as well as many surprises, as they share great stories from their fabled careers. 

Other featured upcoming performances include PHILADANCO! Roots and Reflections (April 12 – 14, 2024, Perelman Theater); Chloé Arnold’s Syncopated Ladies: LIVE! (April 13, 2024, Miller Theater); Anthony Jeselnik: Bones and All (April 27, 2024, Miller Theater); An Evening with Leslie Odom, Jr. (May 1, 2024, Miller Theater); Celeste Barber: Backup Dancer (May 12, 2024, Miller Theater); and Mark Normand: Ya Don’t Say Tour (June 14, 2024, Miller Theater).
