Kimmel Cultural Campus Presents

Matt Rogers on His Album Tour “Have You Heard of Christmas?”

November 01, 2023

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (November 1, 2023) – The Kimmel Cultural Campus, in association with Live Nation, presents American comedian, actor, writer, podcaster, and television host, Matt Rogers, celebrating his Have You Heard of Christmas? Album Tour at the Miller Theater on December 1, 2023, at 8:00 p.m. The show will feature original holiday pop music and stand-up comedy from Rogers and guest stars.

The album tour follows Rogers’ successful Showtime comedy special of the same name and Rogers as he attempts to win approval as the next "Pop Prince of Christmas.” Rogers shares stories to get the audience in the holiday spirit and performs original songs from his Christmas album, accompanied by Henry Koperski on the piano.

“Affectionately nicknamed ‘The Prince of Christmas,’ Matt Rogers kicks off the month of December with energetic, pop tunes and a signature comedic style,” said Frances Egler, Vice President of Theatrical Programming & Presentations on the Kimmel Cultural Campus. “Rogers isn’t the only one bringing the smiles to our Campus this holiday season, as his show joins a lineup of laughter, with The Jinkx & DeLa Holiday Show and the joyful A Very Philly Christmas.”

Named one of Variety's “10 Comics to Watch,” Rogers is a multi-hyphenate creative on the rise with undeniable talent and charm. Known for co-hosting the pop culture podcast, Las Culturistas, with Bowen Yang since 2016, which Time magazine named one of the 50 Best Podcasts, Rogers gained even more popularity following the success of his standout performance in the revolutionary queer romantic comedy, Fire Island, opposite Yang and Joel Kim Booster. The groundbreaking film earned the Ensemble Tribute at the 2022 Gotham Awards and several award nominations, including the 2023 PGA Awards, 2023 Emmy Awards, and the 2023 GLAAD Media Awards. Las Culturistas recently won ‘Podcast of the Year’ at the 2023 iHeartRadio Podcast Awards. The duo recently hosted their second annual Culture Awards at the Lincoln Center in New York in front of a live audience spanning over 3,000 people – with guest appearances that included Cate Blanchett, Ariana Grande, and Andy Cohen.

Rogers has made guest appearances on multiple television series, including Shril, Awkwafina Is Nora from Queens, and Search Party. He also starred in the comedy series I Love That for You on Showtime; voiced the character of Twink on the Netflix comedy Q-Force, on which he also serves as a writer; and was the host of Haute Dog, which aired on HBO Max.

Have You Heard of Christmas? is incredible. It is buoyant and shiny and memorable, and by making it a musical, Rogers captures that ineffable thing about the holiday that’s so captivating and inane and hard to hit.

Vulture

This will likely land Rogers on Santa’s Naughty List, but at least he’s on the list now!
