September 13, 2023

KIMMEL CULTURAL CAMPUS PRESENTS NURSE, TIKTOK SENSATION, AND HEALTHCARE ADVOCATE, NURSE BLAKE, ON HIS NEW SHOCK ADVISED TOUROCTOBER 14, 2023

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (September 13, 2023) –– The Kimmel Cultural Campus, in association with AEG Presents, welcomes nurse, creator, internationally touring comedian, healthcare advocate, and keynote speaker, Nurse Blake, to the Miller Theater on October 14, 2023, at 8:00 p.m. for his new Shock Advised Tour. Bring out your friends, family, and coworkers for an epic night as Nurse Blake shares new stories with a comedic twist of the ins and outs of being a nurse.

Blake Lynch, aka Nurse Blake, worked in trauma centers around the country before his career in comedy. To cope with the stress of his nursing job, Blake started posting original comedy videos aimed at his profession. His lighthearted videos connected with nurses, nursing students, and healthcare workers around the world, earning Nurse Blake 3.5M followers on social media and over 300M views. He now takes his comedy to stages around the world, bringing nurses (and non-nurses!) together through his humor and inspiration.

“You don’t need to be a nurse or medical professional for Nurse Blake’s unique brand of comedy to make you laugh,” said Frances Egler, Vice President of Theatrical Programming & Presentations on the Kimmel Cultural Campus. “As the saying goes, ‘laughter is the best medicine,’ and Nurse Blake’s comedy tour is here to deliver.”

Nurse Blake's sold-out 2022 PTO Comedy Tour began as a 14-show run and grew to 55 shows due to demand. Nurse Blake is following that with his massive Shock Advised Tour, hitting 100 cities across North America in 2023.

Blake is the creator of NurseCon at Sea, one of the largest and most popular nursing conferences, as well as the NurseCon App, which provides free continuing nursing education courses. He previously managed several large programs, including The Banned4Life Project, which he began and resulted in the end of an outdated FDA blood donor policy banning blood donations from gay donors, and Nurses Support Their Young, promoting healthy work environments. Blake is also the author of the best-selling children's book I Want To Be A Nurse When I Grow Up, available online and at bookstores everywhere, and distributes a free magazine quarterly.

Other featured upcoming performances on the Kimmel Cultural Campus include Eddie Izzard – The Remix: The First 35 Years (September 14 – 15, Miller Theater); Tony Hinchcliffe: Fully Groan Tour (September 29, 2023, Miller Theater); Sir Patrick Stewart: Making it So (October 3, 2023, Perelman Theater); Aunty Donna: The Magical Dead Cat Tour (October 7, 2023, Perelman Theater); My Brother, My Brother and Me (October 11, 2023, Miller Theater); Loreena McKennitt: The Visit Revisited 30th Anniversary Tour (October 20, 2023, Miller Theater); The Moth Mainstage (October 21, 2023, Miller Theater); Tribute to Jerry Blavat (October 21, 2023, Academy of Music); An Evening with the Late John Cleese (October 25, 2023, Academy of Music); Steve Martin & Martin Short: You Won’t Believe What They Look Like Today! (October 27, 2023, Academy of Music); Golden Girls – The Laughs Continue (October 27 – 28, 2023, Miller Theater); Jimmy Carr: Terribly Funny (November 11, 2023, Miller Theater); Ira Glass and Etgar Keret (November 15, 2023, Miller Theater) and David Spade: Catch Me Inside (December 2, 2023, Miller Theater).
