KIMMEL CULTURAL CAMPUS PRESENTS, IN ASSOCIATION WITH LIVE NATION, GLOBAL COMEDIAN SENSATION, VIR DAS, IN HIS MIND FOOL TOURJANUARY 20, 2024

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (November 1, 2023) – The Kimmel Cultural Campus, in association with Live Nation, presents the witty global comedy mega-star and actor, Vir Das, and his Mind Fool Tour, at the Miller Theater on January 20, 2024, at 7:00 p.m.

Indian-born comedian and actor, Vir Das, hit the global comedy mega-leagues thanks to his comedic talent, wildly successful tours, and four incredible Netflix specials. Das first began to explore stand-up comedy in college and received the Richter Scholarship for Theater for his first special. He returned home to make his mark on the Indian comedy circuit after receiving more formal performance training from Moscow Arts Theater and Harvard University. Das is known for bringing an American style to topics rooted in contemporary Indian culture; his nuanced approach and narrative craftsmanship results in comedy that is beloved by critics, audiences, and his millions of fans online.

“Vir Das is a true force of comedy, whose infectious energy and razor-sharp wit are equal to his ability to bridge cultures and unite audiences through humor,” said Frances Egler, Vice President of Theatrical Programming & Presentations on the Kimmel Cultural Campus. “His engagement on our Campus is a fantastic addition to a robust comedy season lineup, from standup with David Spade to conversation with John Cleese to the hilarious holiday mischief of Jinkx Monsoon and BenDaLaCreme.”

As India's biggest stand-up comedian and a Bollywood star, Das was the second best-selling live act in the country in 2022. He has increasingly gained worldwide appeal through his various international tours, as well as his appearances in multiple comedy fan-favorite films and TV series. He starred in Judd Apatow's feature, The Bubble, on Netflix, as well as the ABC spy dramedy, Whiskey Cavalier, in the role of Jai Datta opposite Scott Foley and Lauren Cohen. Das has created, produced, and starred in multiple series, including the scripted thriller, Hasmokh, for Netflix and the unscripted travel show, Jestination Unknown, for Amazon. He is also the lead singer for India's premier comedy-rock band, Alien Chutney.

Other featured upcoming performances on the Kimmel Cultural Campus include Ilana Glazer Live! (November 2, 2023, Miller Theater); The Wait Wait Stand-Up Tour (November 10, 2023, Miller Theater); Jimmy Carr: Terribly Funny (November 11, 2023, Miller Theater); Lauren Graham: Have I Told You This Already? (November 16, 2023, Perelman Theater); Company (November 28 – December 10, 2023, The Shubert Organization’s Forrest Theatre); and David Spade: Catch Me Inside (December 2, 2023, Miller Theater).
