We are EITC-approved!

What is the Pennsylvania Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC)?

The Philadelphia Orchestra and Kimmel Center, Inc. (dba Ensemble Arts Philly) are approved Educational Improvement Organizations (EIO) under Pennsylvania’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program. Small and large businesses and individuals can donate to EIO-approved organizations to earn PA state tax credits up to 90% of their contribution (with a cap of $750,000 per tax year). Donations to The Philadelphia Orchestra and Kimmel Center, Inc. (dba Ensemble Arts Philly) through the EITC program support our education programs that serve upwards of 35,000 students from the Philadelphia region each year.

Who’s Eligible?

Any Pennsylvania resident or business that pays state taxes may be eligible to participate in our EITC program. Eligible businesses include C-corporations, S-corporations, partnerships, LLC’s and most other pass-through companies including qualified Subchapter S Trusts. We ask for a minimum contribution of $5,000. Since 2014, Pennsylvania’s EITC program has allowed businesses to channel their tax dollars towards educational nonprofits of their choice while also activating substantial tax benefits. Businesses can participate in this charitable opportunity through a Special Purpose Entity (SPE), which provides a conduit through which donors can partake in giving and gain a tax credit.

We have partnered with a Pennsylvania SPE that has successfully applied for EITC credits, which can then be passed onto businesses on a first-come, first-served basis, who wish to support The Philadelphia Orchestra and Kimmel Center, Inc. (dba Ensemble Arts Philly).

How to Apply?

Businesses can find information and apply on the EITC program page of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development’s website. If your business hasn’t received tax credits this year, or you are an individual, contact us at corporate@ensembleartsphilly.org  to find out how you may participate.

Why should YOU consider directing your EITC donation towards The Philadelphia Orchestra?

  1. Local Impact: Through our music education programs, 35,000 students in grades K-12 are served annually throughout 198 Philadelphia-area schools. Your support will help us connect with students both at our venues and in their classrooms.
  2. Accessibility and Inclusivity: Most of the students attending our education programs are from Title 1 Schools, public schools that receive federal funding to help support low-income students in their academic progress. Often, these students are experiencing a live performance for the first time in our venues. Your support will help us keep our programs free to students and their schools, thus eliminating barriers to reaching underserved students.
  3. Nurturing Talent: In addition to engaging students in live performances at our venues, our education programs inspire students to discover and highlight their own talent, gain exposure, and open their eyes to different opportunities in the arts. Your support will help create both new audiences and aspiring artists.
